Writer
Neil is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where he studied English and Film, completing an undergraduate thesis on the film adapatation of novels.
A former feature writer with London & Company magazine, he has published articles, columns, reviews, short stories and poetry in a variety of commercial and literary magazines, including Eye, Origins, Pierian Spring, The New Quarterly, Canadian Author and Bookman, The Literary Review, Frogpond, Heron's Nest, and the London Anthology of Poets.
Neil has also written for and appeared on many radio and tv shows including: Canada AM; CBC Radio - Here and Now; CBC Radio - Basic Black; Breakfast Television; Much Music; and TVO's Workweek and Second Opinion.
Writing Workshops
In addition to teaching hundreds of individual night classes, Neil's workshops have been offered by the following organizations: Elora Centre for the Arts, Haliburton School of the Arts, Durham College Animation Department, Fleming College, Lambton College, The Storytelling School of Toronto, Harbourfront Centre, The Canadian Authors Association 2006 CanWrite Provincial Conference and the Toronto Public Library.
Neil has been appointed the Writer-in-Residence for 2007-2008 at the Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto, Canada, where he will be teaching some workshops.
His topics include: Fiction, Poetry, Scriptwriting, Haiku and The Lifestory Workshop. Please contact Neil to discuss having a workshop at your organization or school.
